The large LCD displays of the Cisco IP Phone 8851/61 Key Expansion Module allows for quick and easy identification of associated buttons. Using the settings menu of the IP Phone 8851, 8851NR, and 8861 models, you can adjust the brightness of the individual KEM LCD according to your preference.
The primary function of the 8851/61 Key Expansion Module is to provide additional keys for directory numbers, speed dial, or programmable feature keys to the IP Phone 8851, 8851NR, and 8861 models. These keys are illuminated, and when configured as directory numbers or shared-line keys they allow for easy identification of line status. The 8851/61 Key Expansion Module is an ideal call-coverage tool. It provides features that are similar, but not intended to be directly comparable to those of traditional Direct Station Selection/Busy Lamp Field (DSS/BLF) modules; therefore, it is neither an operator nor an attendant console.
The two illuminated page buttons below the Cisco IP Phone 8851/61 Key Expansion Module display allow you to shift between the first and second page of 14 buttons, providing access to all 28 keys.

Also known as “Find Me / Follow Me” or “One Number Reach”, mobile phone integration allows you to receive all calls directed to your business number or extension on your existing mobile device. When a caller enters your number or extension, your office phone rings a set amount of times. If the call is unanswered, the system will automatically send calls to your mobile phone. You will never miss a call again, and there is no need to give out your personal mobile number.
A “soft” phone or software phone is simply a virtual phone application that can be put on any computer device, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops. It allows users to extend the reach of their PBX system and company branding by making and receiving calls that pass along your businesses contact information instead of your personal phone number. This allows you and your employees to make and receive calls anywhere Internet is available at your iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or any Android base phone.
Frequently Asked Questions About Business Phone Systems in HamiltonA hosted PBX combines all the features a business may need. These include call control, collaboration, mobility, call management, voicemail, messaging, contacts, web-based management, call training, integrations, contact center, and analytics.
Hosted PBX rather than having a traditional phone system, or an on-premise PBX, provides you with several benefits. A Hosted PBX system saves money as it costs much less to set-up than an on-premise PBX. In several cases, set-up fees do not apply to a hosted PBX system. You would need to spend tens of thousands of dollars on purchasing and setting up an on-premise PBX. A hosted PBX phone system incurs operational instead of capital expenditure, making the service the most suitable for businesses. There are no other expenses involved as only a monthly fee is applicable in operating the hosted PBX. The service providers set up and install the hosted PBX, excluding any need for a telecom or VoIP expert installation of a hosted PBX system.

Your business phone system provider shoulders all the risk, work, and complexity; growth or retraction can happen quickly and software updates happen automatically so you always have an up-to-date system.
Your service provider has actual control over your system. The Hosted PBX service provider takes care of all major software updates and maintenance processes, saving you a lot of trouble. As the company providing the Hosted PBX phone system manages and maintains your business phone system, you can spend your IT resources on other tasks that can generate more revenue for your business.
A Hosted PBX installation is cheap, quick, and easy. It depends much less on in-house IT resources as compared to other phone systems. The system requires training for users, and you have the choice to either engage your solution provider—or not!
Unlike an on-premise PBX, which requires phone-system hardware at the business location, Telx Hosted PBX operates as a managed cloud service. Incoming calls can be routed to desk phones, mobile devices, computers, voicemail or email, either simultaneously or in a defined sequence.
If you want to manage your own business phone system installed at your physical location. Telx offers Asterisk premise-based PBX (In House Phone System) which is an end-to-end UC solution with enterprise-class features, designed to meet the budget of a small business. You get the power and control of an affordable on-site solution, without the hassle of expensive add-on features or complicated licensing models.
Until most recently, the majority of IP PBXs being deployed were of an asterisk flavor based on a Linux operating system. While companies such as Trixbox, Elastix, Switchvox, and many others have made great efforts to take the Linux programming piece out of the picture, the solutions are still Linux based meaning when it comes time for your choice of hardware or server to run your asterisk solution, you need to make sure the motherboard and peripheral components are compatible.
